EMS Gust Wind Jacket : Packable, Breathable, Handy in a Storm
I'm in the tropics (Cayman Island) for my first Hurricane. I'm incredibly wary of the weather, being a lifetime Northerner. After hours of waiting for the all clear, curiousity gets the best of me. I pull my EMS Gust wind jacket out of my bag (it packs small), and decide to brave the pounding rain and 75 mph wind gusts. After 30 seconds I'm completely soaked, except for my torso and arms, which, of course, are covered my by EMS jacket. I have to say I was pretty impressed by the rain protection (the rain just rolled off of me), as well as the wind protection this jacket offered me. It breathed well, too, allowing my body heat to escape before I got the usual clammy feeling I used to get with my old rain jacket. It's an ideal warm weather shell for times you need to stay dry, but don't need a lot of heat. Bottom Line: Overall, I really like my EMS Gust wind jacket. Unlike any other jacket I've tried, it is so comfortable and lightweight that I always forget I'm wearing it. It's an extra bonus that the jacket packs up so small; perfect for vacations and afternoon outings.--H.P.
